On 1 August 2011 the Federal Court brought in new rules. They repealed their old rules and heralded a new era of modern Court practice and procedure. One of the key rules that were changed were to discovery. Today, only discovery that is necessary is to be given in the Federal Court and a notion of standard discovery for uncomplicated matters has been introduced. This new era will ensure that discovery is cost effective and efficient to all parties to litigation.
