The Local Government and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2012 was introduced by the Minister for Local Government on 13 September 2012.
The Bill proposes to amend the Local Government Act 2009 and City of Brisbane Act 2010, as well as other related legislation, with a view to “empowering Queensland local councils” and removing unnecessary red tape and regulation. This article will focus on some of the important changes proposed to the LGA as set out in the Bill.
