Australia's leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, has acted as the lead tax adviser to APA Group (APA) on the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant project, a major new A$1.3 billion gas power station development in Queensland which will support the Queensland renewable energy transition.
The Brigalow Peaking Power Plant is a major new energy infrastructure development, that will involve the construction of a 400 MW gas-peaking power station adjacent to CS Energy's existing Kogan Creek Power Station in Queensland. Its construction represents a significant step in strengthening Queensland's energy reliability and supports APA's position as a leading provider of energy infrastructure during the national transition to cleaner energy sources.
The Corrs team, led by partner Luke Imbriano and head of tax Cameron Blackwood, supported by special counsel Nathan Unitt and associate Cameron Dimeck, advised APA on all tax issues across all aspects of the project, from inception through to financial close. Corrs provided advice covering the full spectrum of direct and indirect tax matters, as well as financial model review and full-form contract negotiation.
Commenting on the matter, partner Luke Imbriano said: "We are pleased to have again acted as APA's trusted tax legal adviser across every aspect of this multi-faceted development, which is testament to our ability to provide end-to-end tax advice on complex infrastructure projects."
Adrian Lovell, Head of Tax at APA Group, said: "Corrs' deep expertise in infrastructure, their commercial approach and their responsiveness made them the ideal partner for a project of this complexity and scale."
Corrs’ engagement on this project follows its support of APA across related projects, including the previously announced Brigalow Pipeline Project.
