Australia’s leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, has advised Fertiglobe plc (Fertiglobe) on the acquisition of the distribution assets of Wengfu Australia Pty Ltd (Wengfu).
Fertiglobe, the world’s largest seaborne exporter of urea and net ammonia combined, and the largest nitrogen fertilizer producer in the Middle East and North Africa region, has completed the acquisition of the distribution assets of Wengfu. Wengfu is a China-based fertiliser sourcing and distribution company which operates in south-east Australia and distributes 700,000 to 800,000 tonnes of fertiliser annually to over 200 customers, with capacity to scale up to 1.1 million tons per annum. Fertiglobe Australia Pty Ltd (Fertiglobe Australia), a fully owned subsidiary of Fertiglobe, has been established as the legal entity that will operate the acquired distribution assets under the Fertiglobe brand. Through this acquisition, Fertiglobe has become a leading supplier in one of the world’s fastest-growing agricultural markets, with assets recognized for their high-quality standards and a well-established supply chain.
Led by partner Anthony Lepere, and supported by partners Anna White and Warren Scott, Corrs advised on all aspects of the transaction with support from the firm’s corporate, energy and natural resources, environment and planning, real estate, intellectual property, and employment, labour and safety practices.
Commenting on the matter, Anthony Lepere said: “We are thrilled to advise Fertiglobe on this significant transaction, which marks a key milestone in its expansion into the Asia-Pacific region and strengthens its position as a global leader in the fertiliser industry.
“The deal reinforces Corrs’ reputation as a trusted legal advisor in complex, cross-border M&A transactions, particularly in the agriculture and resources sectors.”
