John’s expertise has been effectively utilised as lead adviser in major government and private sector projects.

Not wanting to rest on his extensive legal experience, John has also proven himself to be an exceptional leader. He is currently Chair of the Transport Accident Commission ( which is responsible for the prevention and insurance of all personal injuries in transport accidents in Victoria) and a director of WorkSafe Victoria, he was previously acting Chair of WorkSafe Victoria, Head of Investment Banking at the Bankers Trust in Melbourne; and Board Member of ABB Grain Ltd.  He is also Chair of the Responsible Gambling Ministerial Advisory Council.

John has also served for five-and-a-half years as Chair of a Commonwealth Statutory Authority, the Wheat Export Authority, in which role he had Financial Management Act responsibility and represented the Authority before the Senate Estimates Committee hearings.

  • $5 Billion reform of the Victorian Gambling Industry and subsequent competitive licensing process Lead advisor on all private sector aspects.
  • $1 Billion Melbourne Convention Centre Project and Expansion
  • $3.5 Billion Victoria Desalination Project (2009) Lead adviser to the State on all aspects of this project which was the largest PPP project to close globally in the year 2009.
  • $2.5 Billion CityLink Project (1995) Lead adviser to the State on all aspects of this Project which was the first freeway fully electronic toll road project globally.
  • $3.5 Billion Eastlink Project (2004) Lead adviser to the State on this major matter which had significant issues with the electronic toll system for Eastlink.
  • $4.8 Billion Airport Link Project (2008) Lead adviser to the successful construction of this project which is the largest PPP infrastructure project in Australia.
