As a partner at Corrs, James has lent his deep industry expertise to a range of government and corporate clients including amazon.com, Vodafone, the National Broadband Network, Woolworths, the NSW Department of Finance and Services and the Commonwealth Department of Communications.

Prior to joining Corrs, he worked in the London office of Allen & Overy advising on a range of significant technology and telecommunications transactions in Europe and North America.

James has deep expertise in communications including telecommunications infrastructure projects, commercial agreements and regulatory matters; outsourcing, including information technology outsourcing, data centres, cloud computing and business process outsourcing; and procurement including advising on procurement processes and probity issues.

James is recognised as a leader in the “converging” industries of communications, media and technology by distinguished legal industry publications at the Australasian Legal Business Awards as well as in Best Lawyers and Chambers Asia Pacific.

  • National Broadband Network implementation Advising the Commonwealth Government and the National Broadband Network Co on the rollout of the National Broadband Network Project.
  • Vodafone network infrastructure contracts Advising Vodafone on a number of network infrastructure contracts including the procurement and rollout of its 2G and 3G mobile network, Vodafone’s mobile network-sharing alliance with Optus, and outsourcing the operation and maintenance of its networks to Nokia.
  • Vodafone-Hutchison 3 merger Advising Vodafone on its merger with Hutchison’s 3, including on the post-merger integration of network technologies and IT systems.
  • Woolworths’ “EveryDay Mobile” Advising Woolworths on the launch of its telecommunications business “EveryDay Mobile”, on its data centre requirements and on major IT and business process procurements.
  • Austar Advised Austar on its satellite capacity and contact sharing arrangements with Foxtel and Optus.
  • Singapore OpenNet Fibre project Advising United Group on its commercial agreements with Singtel relating to the OpenNet Fibre to the Home project in Singapore.
