A specialist in complex, deadline-driven real estate projects, Nathaniel acts for corporate clients, developers, land owners, housing associations and financiers on the full spectrum of property issues.

He advises on major ‘head office’ commercial, industrial and retail lease pre-commitments, real estate development including PDAs, social and private housing projects, mixed use projects, commercial office buildings, shopping centres, industrial estates and ‘off the plan’ residential projects and communities.

Nathaniel also advises on real estate acquisitions and sales including shopping centres, commercial office buildings, portfolio sales, sale and lease-backs and ‘fund through’ transactions, and on property and title issues including subdivisions, owners corporations, easements and restrictive covenants.

National Australia Bank

Advised on the delivery and implementation of 3 major transactions comprising NAB’s Melbourne CBD head office, a 66,000 square metre building, in Sydney a 35,000 square metre pre-commitment in the A$1.6 billion complex at Wynyard Place in Sydney CBD and a 40,000 square metre office tower in Parramatta.

Head office leasing

Advised on a variety of corporates on tenancy arrangements, including Toyota (on office projects comprising approximately 15,000sqm), SEEK (in a 20,000 square metre office building), Transurban (in a 15,000 square metre head office as well as a new Brisbane state office), RMIT (10,000 square metre premises), and Vanguard Investments (on a 10,000 square metre premises). In addition, he advised Arup in relation to its head office tenancy which kick started the landmark mixed-use development, Melbourne Quarter, led by Lendlease.


Advised on the sale and lease-back of the AHL/Woolworths hotel portfolio, comprising 54 hotels and gaming venues in five Australian jurisdictions. The sale price exceeded A$600 million, making it one of the largest sales of its type in the Australian market.

Alphington Paper Mill

Advised on the sale of Alphington paper mill, a major 16 hectare infill development site.

Ivanhoe Estate, Macquarie Park

Acted for the consortium between Frasers Group, Citta Property and Mission Housing in respect of its successful bid for a development site at Macquarie Park owned by LAHC NSW. This 8.2 hectare site will be transformed into an integrated neighbourhood of more than 3,500 dwellings including social housing dwellings mixed with affordable and private housing.

NAB data centre

Acted on an agreement for lease and lease for the delivery of a turn-key data centre space in a new Tier 3 data centre to be built by Digital Realty Trust. Advised on the IT and property aspects of the deal through a competitive tender process.

Automated distribution centres

Advised on the acquisition and development of a major new distribution centre for Woolworths and the development of two automated distribution centres for Coles.
