Our place in the Asian Century: Southeast Asia as ‘The Third Way’

The promise of the Asian Century is that the biggest opportunities (and challenges) in the world are now in our region. The challenge becomes how we all work together to make the most of it.

Corrs Partner and CEO John W. H. Denton recently joined a group of leading experts in Asian affairs at an Asialink panel discussion in response to the Australia in the Asian Century White Paper.

The panel discussed the question of implementation: “How will the roadmap laid out by the White Paper be converted into action? What should be the main priorities for Australia and how should we pursue them?”

John was joined by panellists:

  • Professor Ross Garnaut AO, Vice-Chancellor’s Fellow and Professional Fellow in Economics, University of Melbourne
  • Professor Tony Milner AM, Basham Professor of Asian History, Australian National University
  • Jenny McGregor, Chief Executive Officer, Asialink
  • Lesley Alway, Director, Asialink

Held in our Melbourne office, the event also launched the Asialink report: Our place in the Asian Century: Southeast Asia as ‘The Third Way’.
