A recognised leader in construction law and disputes, Matthew specialises in advising on complex and significant matters. He represents government and commercial clients in the engineering, construction, energy and resources and development sectors.

Matthew also advises on all aspects of project delivery, claims management and dispute resolution strategy, including litigation and the full suite of alternative dispute resolution approaches.

Matthew is a member of both the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators of Australia and the Australian Centre of International Commercial Arbitration.

Australian LNG Project

Acting in relation to two multi-billion dollar arbitral proceedings (ICC and UNCIRAL) concerning the construction of a A$54 billion LNG Project.

Trans Adriatic Pipeline Project

Advised on strategic contract and claims management on the Turkey to Italy €6 billion Trans Adriatic Gas Pipeline project, including advice on the 9 EPC contract packages (including the off-shore EPC pipeline package).

Shell

Advised on project delivery, contractual claims, dispute review board and arbitration proceedings on the A$20 billion+ QCLNG project in central Queensland. These disputes involved a range of claims on several of the major contract packages for the project, including large security of payment act (BCIPA) claims.

Ichthys Project

Acting in relation to significant disputes concerning the construction of the onshore facilities for the A$40 billion LNG Project in Darwin.

QNGR Project

Acting in relation to claims and disputes on the Queensland New Generation Rollingstock A$4.8 billion PPP including project delivery, significant disputes, expert determination and ACICA arbitration proceedings.
