Throughout his 25 years at Corrs, Justin has guided global names such as BP, Cadbury, SAB Miller and Singapore Airlines on strategic transactions in the Australian market. He works easily across borders, having spent a large part of his early career working in South-East Asia.
Justin has applied his skills in foreign investment, takeovers, schemes of arrangement and private treaty mergers and acquisitions across a range of industries. He is a recognised expert in the media and digital sectors, having been at the forefront of a number of transformational deals in those areas. He advises ASX-listed companies on their continuous disclosure and compliance obligations and regularly advises board members on directors’ duties.
Justin finds innovative solutions to complex problems and enjoys the longstanding trust of some of the firm’s major clients. He has been a Corporations Committee member at the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia for more than a decade.
Advised on the sale of BP’s Australian bitumen business and on the disposal of its South Australia fuel retail network.
Advised REA on the establishment of a joint venture with NAB to build and operate an end-to-end digital property search and financing platform. This included the acquisition of majority shares in both the Smartline and Choice mortgage broking businesses and partnering arrangements with NAB for the development of a technical solution to support a digital offering.
Advised Singapore Airlines Limited on their participation in the A$852 million entitlement offer in Virgin Australia Holdings Limited.
Advised SABMiller on the Australian aspects of the £71 billion global takeover offer received from ABI.
Advised Southern Cross Media Group on its A$740 million takeover offer for Austereo Group.
Advised Foster’s on the demerger of Treasury Wine Estates Limited.
