Jared is a government advisory expert, with extensive experience working with both public and private sector clients. He has advised on major projects involving Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and other structures, and lead teams working on Royal Commissions, significant legislative, regulatory and policy reviews and other sensitive inquiries.

Jared's practice includes advising on the translation of policy into law, legislative and regulatory drafting and interpretation, administrative and public law risks and mitigation strategies, procurement and probity plans and procedures and contract drafting and management.

Jared was seconded as International Counsel at Soemadipradja & Taher (one of Indonesia’s leading law firms), as Principal Legal Adviser to the Royal Commission into Family Violence and into the Office of General Counsel within the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services during 2020-2021.

Jared is a member of the Corrs National Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Pride@Corrs Steering Committee and convenes the Melbourne LGBTIQ+ Interfirm Network. He is a board member of Springvale Monash Legal Service and a Senior Fellow (Melbourne JD) of the Melbourne Law School.

Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System

Lead partner representing 23 Victorian government clients, including public health services, public hospitals, area mental health services and associated entities.

Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence

The Commission’s Principal Legal Adviser, advising the Commissioners and CEO, instructing Counsel Assisting and managing the legal team throughout the inquiry.

Victorian Department of Health, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing

Advising on a wide variety of legislative, regulatory and contractual matters (including drafting legislation, regulations and public health directions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic) and advising on the investigation of, and rights against, service providers and contractual counterparts.

Victorian gambling licences review

Acting for the State of Victoria in its review of gambling licences in Victoria, and the design, establishment and transition to the new legislative, regulatory and contractual regimes, encompassing extensive legislative and regulatory work.

Advising on the lotteries, gaming machine allocation, Keno, and wagering and betting licensing projects.

Victorian Desalination project

Acting for the State of Victoria on an A$5.7 billion PPP project from project inception and throughout procurement, design and construction, and operation and maintenance.

WA Department of Treasury and Finance

Advising, through the State Solicitor’s Office, on the drafting of legislation and associated licences and agreements to give effect to the WA TAB privatisation.

WA Law Reform Commission

Advising the Commission on its project to review the Gender Reassignment Act 2000 (WA) and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1998 (WA).

Victorian government entities

Providing strategic, governance, legislative and contractual advice to the Victorian Legal Services Board, Court Services Victoria, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust, Port of Hastings Development Authority, VicRoads, VicTrack and other government departments and agencies.
