James specialises in inbound investment and complex Australian and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, including both regulated and private treaty M&A.

He is a member of Corrs' foreign investment specialist team, and also advises listed and unlisted companies on a broad range of matters including demergers, joint ventures, ASX listing rules, commercial agreements, corporate governance, fundraisings and procurement.

ESR Group

Advised Warburg Pincus-backed ESR Group on its A$755 million unsolicited off-market takeover of ASX-listed REIT Propertylink Group.


Advised a consortium comprising of QIC, Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Area and Pagoda on the acquisition of Icon in a transaction valued at over A$1 billion.

China Resources and Macquarie Capital

Advised a consortium comprising of China Resources and Macquarie Capital on its acquisition of a majority interest in Genesis Care Limited, Australia’s largest cancer and cardiac services provider.

Asahi Kasei Corporation

Advising Asahi Kasei Homes, a subsidiary of the AKC, on its investment in McDonald Jones Homes.

SMS Management & Technology

Advised SMS in respect of its initial scheme of arrangement with DWS, and the final successful competing scheme with ASG.


Advising the owners on the A$1.3 billion merger of Symbion with EBOS Group Limited.
