Anthony specialises in restructuring and insolvency, acting for lenders, creditors, borrowers, directors and insolvency practitioners across workouts, restructurings and formal insolvency processes. He advises on significant contentious and non-contentious matters, including complex cross-border issues. He also has extensive experience in dispute resolution, commercial litigation and court applications under the Corporations Act, including schemes of arrangement.

He is recognised in legal directories including IFLR1000 as a Rising Star for Restructuring and Insolvency in Australia (2025) and Best Lawyers (2023, 2024), and was a finalist in the 2019 Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards for Insolvency. 

Anthony has been a guest lecturer at Sydney University Law School in the subject of Insolvency and has contributed to academic and professional publications. 

He works closely with clients to deliver practical, commercially focused solutions. He is a member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA), the Banking and Financial Services Law Association (BFSLA) and the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) of Australia.

Key deals

Boart Longyear

Acted for Centerbridge Partners as a major creditor and shareholder in the restructuring of ASX‑listed mining services group Boart Longyear in 2017 and 2021, both implemented through creditors’ schemes of arrangement. The 2017 restructuring resulted in landmark court decisions on creditors’ schemes and was a finalist for Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year at the 2018 Australasian Law Awards. The 2021 restructuring involved the compromise of more than A$1 billion of debt and the redomiciliation of the holding company, winning Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year at the 2022 Australasian Law Awards and TMA Restructuring Deal of the Year 2022.

Ten Network

Acted for the receivers and managers of Australian television broadcaster Ten Network on all aspects of their appointments and the sale to CBS Studios, which won Large Company Turnaround of the Year at the 2018 TMA Awards and was a finalist for Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year at the 2018 Australasian Law Awards.

Speedcast

Acted for Centerbridge Partners on the US$500 million acquisition of the subsidiaries of ASX‑listed satellite communications group Speedcast under a US Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan, including debtor‑in‑possession financing. The transaction resulted in Speedcast refinancing more than US$650 million of debt and US$1.1 billion of balance sheet assets and marked the first time an ASX‑listed company underwent a Chapter 11 process and completed a sale in Australia without a formal local administration.

Oroton

Acted for the secured creditor and deed proponent in the administration of ASX‑listed luxury accessories retailer Oroton and its recapitalisation through a deed of company arrangement.

Blue Sky Alternative Investments

Acted for the receivers and managers of alternative asset manager Blue Sky Alternative Investments in relation to arrangements with Oaktree Capital as major creditor.

Flow Systems

Acted for the administrators and deed administrators of water and energy utility provider Flow Systems on all aspects of their appointments and the deed of company arrangement with Brookfield.

Forum Finance

Acted for Westpac in relation to a A$250 million fraud involving Forum Finance and subsequent recovery proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia, including freezing and search orders and complex asset tracing.
