Alice is an experienced litigator in both Queensland and Federal jurisdictions and is often engaged in the defence of complex, high-value, highly publicised and catastrophic medical negligence and related claims.
A specialist in health and medical law, she acts primarily for healthcare practitioners, health services and their insurers. She advises and acts as solicitor advocate in the defence of pre-litigation and litigated claims across a variety of clinical service areas and related claims including for nervous shock, loss of dependency and loss of consortium and servitium.
Having previously been seconded to both a Hospital and Health Service and a large private healthcare organisation, Alice has valuable insight into the delivery of public and private healthcare in Queensland. She regularly advises on clinical service delivery issues, including capacity, consent, substitute decision-making and end-of-life decision-making, as well as the development of policies, guidelines and procedures. Alice also assists clients in responding to adverse clinical events, including coronial inquests, regulatory investigations by the Office of the Health Ombudsman and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, complaints to the Australian and Queensland Human Rights Commissions and internal health service investigations and clinical reviews.
Alice is on the Queensland Law Society’s Health and Disability Law Committee and is a member of the Medico-Legal Society of Queensland. She regularly volunteers her time to provide pro-bono assistance to clients of LawRight though the Self-Representation Service and Refugee Civil Law Service.
