Alan Churley




With over 20 years’ experience, Alan is a skilled problem solver in the fields of property, projects and infrastructure, helping his clients to find solutions, unlock opportunities and realise their business objectives. Because of this, he has been credited in shaping a number of major property developments and infrastructure projects in Western Australia.

Alan specialises in managing challenging scenarios and resolving complex issues. He has the technical nous and knowledge required for the fast-moving and rapidly evolving water industry, and has had significant involvement in a number of high-profile water projects.

Key deals

Harvey Water

Acted on its privatisation, including significant due diligence to identify relevant assets, drafting and negotiation of transfer and tenure documentation, and preparation of relevant regulations relating to the disposal.

Advised on the piping of a significant portion of its water infrastructure, including option agreements relating to transferable water entitlements with the WA Water Corporation.

Water Corporation WA

Joint lead partner on the Mundaring Water Treatment Plant PPP, acting for the Water Corporation WA. Corrs’ role included the development and test of a business case for the use of a PPP delivery method, with Alan having a specific focus on project and land tenure documentation. In addition, Alan advised on a broad range of commercial agreements, including water supply agreements, transfer of water infrastructure agreements and joint venture arrangements.

Woolworths Group

Acted for over 20 years, providing a broad range of property and business related advice, including agreements for lease and lease, purchase of supermarket and liquor store businesses and land purchase and sale contracts. Alan also advised Woolworths in respect of the establishment of its distribution centre at the Perth Airport, which involved negotiations of a long term lease on Commonwealth land, including complex stamp duty advice.

Access Housing Australia

Providing advice to the ‘not for profit’ Western Australian affordable housing provider, in respect of a proposed project involving the WA state government, access and private institutional funders. The project broke new ground and serves as a unique model to allow private investment in social and affordable housing.

Ramsay Health Care Group

Acted in respect of the property aspects of its Joondalup Hospital redevelopment, which required the resolution of complex land and access issues relating to the underlying Crown land. Alan has also acted for Ramsay in respect of various other leasing and property matters relating to this hospital facility, and other Ramsay facilities in WA.
