A specialist energy and resources practitioner, Michael is an expert in mining, electricity and gas. He advises on matters including project structuring and development, mergers and acquisitions and the negotiation of complex commercial agreements.

Michael has led some of the largest and most complex transactions in the energy sector.

Michael was a director at AMPLA: The Resources and Energy Law Association from 2003 - 2013. During that time he served as Queensland President from 2003 - 2008 and as National President in 2012.

Advised on the restructure of the shareholding and financing arrangements in relation to the NCIG coal export terminal in Newcastle.

Advised the consortium on the development of a privately owned, project financed 800km electricity transmission network from Townsville to Mt Isa.

Queensland Government

Advising on the Biofutures Acceleration Program including the procurement process and assistance agreements, to facilitate the development of a biofutures industry in Queensland.

Queensland Gas Company (QGC)

Advised on numerous gas supply, purchase, swap and put agreements as part of the development of the LNG Plant in Gladstone.

Stanwell Corporation

Advised on the development of a proposed gas pipeline from the Queensland Gas Pipeline to Stanwell Energy Park including gas transportation agreements and third party access arrangements.
