Corrs named EOWA Employer of Choice for Women for sixth successive year

Corrs Chambers Westgarth has been named an Employer of Choice by the Federal Government's Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) for the sixth successive year.

Awarded to organisations demonstrating policies and practices that embrace gender diversity and positive outcomes for women in the workplace, the citation, valid for two years, reflects good practice across areas including pay parity, workplace flexibility, parental leave and women in senior management roles.

Corrs partner and CEO John W.H. Denton said being recognised by EOWA is an important independent endorsement of the firm’s ongoing gender diversity commitment and initiatives.

“Corrs is committed to recognising and advancing women in the workplace. Creating a workplace that supports and encourages women makes good business sense and also good social sense,” Mr Denton said.

Corrs recently launched its ASX-compliant gender diversity policy, publicly committing to maintaining the 33% of women on the Corrs Board, ensuring 40% of the firm’s senior managers are women, and for women to comprise 35% of the partnership by 2015.

Mr Denton said Corrs values its continuing involvement with EOWA, which aligns with Corrs’ 2015 vision of creating an inspiring workplace for outstanding people.

  • 18 weeks paid parental leave for employees who are the primary care giver
  • Flexibility@Work program, which offers flexible working options to accommodate the individual circumstances of employees
  • Embedding flexible work culture through training for partners on leading and managing flexible teams
  • Participating in Melbourne Business School’s Gender Equality study – a three year training, research and intervention program to identify and remove barriers to gender equity
