Corrs Chambers Westgarth is celebrating today after its crisis management app, Crisis Covered, picked up two coveted awards last night at the Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards in Sydney and at Lawtech’s Innovation in Legal IT awards on the Gold Coast.
Head of Innovation, Graeme Grovum was at the Australian Law Awards to accept the trophy in the Innovator of the Year category and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jon Kenton, collected the award for Superior Innovation in Legal Technology at Lawtech’s 10th annual summit.
These successes follow hot on the heels from Corrs’ recent success at the International Legal Technology Awards held in the United States on 1 September which saw the firm pick up another innovation award for Crisis Covered in the 2015 Innovative Project of the Year category.
The concept for the Crisis Covered app came from Corrs’ Workplace Health & Safety team, who worked closely with the firm’s technology IT team to transform the idea into a technology solution that would completely transform an existing service.
The result is a two way communication tool that enables clients to seek and receive privileged legal advice in a secure and confidential way following a workplace incident or crisis.
Crisis Covered works by enabling the user to communicate with a Corrs partner from any location using their smart phone, tablet or desktop at any time on any day and facilitates the exchange of images, documentation and information in real time via its live activity stream.
Corrs partner and CEO John W.H. Denton AO said:
“We are always challenging ourselves to find improvements to the way we deliver our services and are constantly innovating and re-engineering our services and processes to find new ways to deliver greater speed, responsiveness and value to our clients.
“These wins are testament to how important technology is becoming to the legal industry and to the strong focus we have here at Corrs on innovation, on being pioneering and on doing things differently.
“Crisis Covered brings together world class technical expertise and in-depth market insight to create a new way of working that has significant client benefits. This is an exciting time for the legal industry and I believe that tools like Crisis Covered are just the start of things to come.”
