Australia’s leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, has appointed IP specialist Grant Fisher as a partner in its intellectual property practice.
Grant is recognised as one of the country’s most accomplished IP, patent and life sciences law specialists, with a particular focus on pharma patent litigation.
Grant’s addition to Corrs’ market-leading IP team further strengthens the firm’s offering to domestic and international clients on large and complex litigation matters.

Based in Melbourne, Grant’s practice includes all facets of IP with a particular focus on patent litigation covering innovation and technology in chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, mining, computer-related inventions and mechanical devices. Qualified in chemistry, his focus on life sciences IP law has seen him advise many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
One of two Australian thought leaders according to Who’s Who Patents, he is also recognised as a Pre-eminent Lawyer in Contentious IP Law, a Leading individual or lawyer in Biotechnology law, IP Law, Life Sciences, Patents and Trademarks and a Patent IP Star in legal directories across the world.
Grant’s committee memberships have both a domestic and international focus. Domestically, he is a committee member of the Intellectual Property Section of the Australian Law Council and the Australian national group of the International Association for the Protection of IP (AIPPI). Grant is also a member of the IP Society of Australia and New Zealand and a Fellow of the Institute of Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia.
Internationally, Grant is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and a committee member of the international Membership Committee of AIPPI and the current vice-chair of the AIPPI Standing Committee on Free Trade Agreements. AIPPI is an organisation with 9,000 members from 125 countries, headquartered in Switzerland, dedicated to developing and improving laws for the protection of intellectual property.
