Top dealmakers share several qualities - legal and financial acumen, and a knowledge of both business and industry. In Teresa Handicott’s case, add her clients’ absolute confidence that she will deliver the deal.

Teresa has spearheaded some of Australia’s most challenging corporate transactions.

She brings two decades of experience in mergers and acquisitions including nine years as a member of the Takeovers Panel - the Tribunal that makes the decisions that shape the takeovers landscape.

In 2008, Teresa advised Suncorp on its $7.9 billion merger with Promina and was named “Dealmaker of the Year” at the Australasian Law Awards.

But for Teresa, it’s more about relationships than transactions. As a trusted advisor, many of Teresa’s client relationships span two decades.

Her clients value her commercial approach to transactions and her deep understanding of their business. It’s her ability to manage huge deals, lead teams and always deliver on time and exactly to specification that makes her one of Australia’s best lawyers.
