Ben is a leading adviser to financiers, providing acquisition, project and general corporate finance, and is well-known for his ability to achieve successful outcomes in complex negotiations.

Ben has been involved in a broad range of corporate financing transactions, primarily acting for banks, non-bank lenders and other financial institutions and for large corporates and property funds. He advises on the structuring and documentation for transactions involving project finance, construction and property finance, and acquisition finance as well as workouts and complex debt restructuring.

With particular expertise in property finance, Ben has extensive experience advising on property acquisition funding as well as development, construction and project finance. Ben acts for borrowers and financiers on syndicated and bilateral finance transactions, advising on senior and mezzanine debt finance and debt capital markets issues across a wide range of industries.

Ben is also actively involved in complex debt restructuring and work out transactions. He has led complex debt reconstruction transactions for lending syndicates where covenants were under stress, and differing commercial imperatives and complex inter-creditor issues must be resolved.

Senior, Mezzanine, Stressed and Distressed Lending and Refinance

Ben acts for a range of offshore and local funds and nonbank lenders, and for the major banks providing senior, stretch, mono-tranche and mezzanine finance. He also has experience in structuring and implementing stressed and distressed financing transactions, including DIP style financing and the provision of finance to insolvent or near insolvent companies.

Front end lending

Ben has acted for a range of major financial institutions and has done so for over 15 years. He acts on property and development finance, corporate finance and project and acquisition finance transactions for each of the four major Australian banks – Macquarie Bank, Bank of Queensland and a number of non-bank lenders. Ben also acts for property funds, developers, and other borrowers and sponsors in debt transactions.

Financial and Operational Restructuring, Workout and Turnaround

Experience in all aspects of financial and operational restructuring. Works closely with clients to create value by injecting new debt and equity into distressed situations. Specialist experience in stressed and distressed lending and finance where transactions are originated and then become defaulting or distressed as part of the natural life of the loan. The McAleese transaction is a good example of this.
