Australia’s leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, is proud to announce the appointment of partner Rebecca Field to the boards of the Western Australian Land Authority (LandCorp) and Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA).

One of Perth’s pre-eminent property development, finance and infrastructure lawyers, Rebecca was appointed by the WA Government’s Minister for Planning and Lands, Rita Saffioti MLA, to the boards of the two organisations as part of the government’s process to implement major reforms to the State’s land agencies.

The planned reform is intended to address the blurring of the roles and functions of the MRA and LandCorp that has occurred over time; resolve the growing level of MRA debt attributable to non-commercial assets; and drive efficiencies and improved outcomes for land development and housing affordability, according to the Minister.

Rebecca will provide her market-leading legal expertise to the bodies as they commence the first phase of the government’s reform process, which will ultimately see the consolidation of the two organisations.

According to Minister Saffioti, Rebecca will play a “key leadership role in the process”, using her “extensive skills and experience”.

Rebecca commented, “It is a great honour to be invited to play an active role in such an important process and to assist the Minister implement these much needed reforms.”
