Australia’s leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, is proud to announce the promotion of exceptional litigator and restructuring lawyer, Michelle Dean, to its partnership.

Based in Perth, Michelle joined Corrs in 2015 after previously working for two global law firms in Australia and the UK. While in London, Michelle guided clients through a myriad of complex restructures in the wake of the global financial crisis. She advised lenders on the insolvency issues associated with public private partnerships and documented cross border restructures involving assets throughout Europe and the United States.

“Specialising in commercial litigation and insolvency and restructuring, Michelle is widely recognised in the Australian market as a first class litigator,” said CEO and Partner of Corrs, John W.H. Denton AO.

“Michelle has spent her career representing large corporate groups in complex matters with lean and focussed teams, delivering client-driven and commercially aware outcomes,” he said.

“Michelle’s elevation to partner will enable us to present a truly national restructuring and insolvency team to clients across the breadth of Australia.”

Michelle has a broad, diverse background in commercial litigation and acts for Australia’s major banks and international oil and gas, and iron ore companies.

Her expertise is also recognised externally. She was recently appointed to the WA committee of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association, the leading organisation in the Australian insolvency industry.

The strength of her reputation was also recently recognised when she was named in the 2018 Best Lawyers list for litigation in Australia.

Michelle officially joins the partnership on 1 July 2018.
