Corrs partner wins ‘Asia Women in Business Law’ IP litigation award

14 December 2011

Corrs Chambers Westgarth partner Odette Gourley was awarded “Best Lawyer in Intellectual Property Litigation” at the inaugural Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2011.

Odette was recognised at an awards dinner held in Hong Kong last week. The event was attended by Asia’s leading female lawyers who celebrated the achievements of firms in diversity and the individual women leading in their fields across the region.

Odette said, “I am delighted and honoured to receive this award. This is recognition of the great intellectual property litigation matters the Corrs IP team is engaged in throughout the Asia-Pacific. These cases require innovative approaches and, while challenging, are also intensely rewarding when we assist clients to achieve their objectives.”

Cutting edge issues involved in Odette’s recent cases include the availability of copyright protection for databases and the “recovery” of misappropriated global brands, given dissemination of reputation through the internet.

Corrs partner and CEO, John W.H. Denton said, “This is a wonderful acknowledgement which shows Odette is truly at the top of her game.”
