Corrs moves to close the gender divide
Corrs has been confirmed as an industry partner in a training, research and intervention program aimed at identifying and removing barriers to gender inequality.
The three year program is a collaborative partnership between researchers and industry partners who will work together to develop approaches to understanding and finding solutions to the gender inequality problem at middle to senior level management roles.
The program will be run by the Melbourne Business School under the supervision of Professor Robert E. Wood. Professor Wood has designed, developed and delivered programs for senior managers worldwide and has provided advice to many Australian and overseas corporations, including Telstra and P&O Ports. He is currently the Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the Australian School of Business at the University of NSW.
Industry partners were announced last night at the Melbourne launch of The Delusion of Gender “The real science behind sex differences”, a book by Dr Cordeilia Fine a scholar and Senior Research Associate at Macquarie University.
Corrs’ Director of People & Development, Alexis Navie, was invited on behalf of Corrs to attend the book launch.
“We are honoured to have the chance to work with the country’s top researchers and corporate organisations to shape such an important program. Our participation in the program will help us to respond more effectively to our own firm diversity needs by providing our staff with evidence based training programs and will also allow us to provide feedback on our own policies, systems, cultures and procedures arising from the program’s research phase. We look forward to the launch in early 2011.”
