Ian’s main areas of practice include Banking & Finance, Insolvency and Agribusiness.

He regularly acts both for bank and other lenders, as well as for corporate borrowers in structuring and documenting significant corporate, mining, agribusiness and property finance arrangements.

Ian also advises companies, insolvency practitioners and lenders on matters arising in receiverships, liquidations and administrations, and has extensive experience in negotiating and documenting varied forms of work-out. Assets which Ian has dealt with include properties as diverse as theme parks, marina developments, shopping centres, licensed premises and various rural properties.

Ian has extensive experience in acting for participants in primary industries such as beef, sheep, cotton and grain. He has acted on a number of significant rural property acquisitions and disposals and has an in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the issues relevant to the industry. Ian’s experience also extends to advising clients on water rights and water trading issues, including the impact this has on rural operations.
