Information Management

Information management is an increasingly important activity as governments at all levels, and internationally, grapple with how best to deliver services and co-ordinate activities in an increasingly complex and globally interconnected environment.

The firm is a leading adviser on eGovernment issues to Australian government agencies. We have advised on legal issues associated with implementing public key infrastructures, eProcurement and online contracting, eTendering, the interpretation of the Commonwealth Electronic Transactions Act 1999, eSecurity issues, and electronic authentication and non-repudiation.

Most recently the firm has been advising the Australian Government Information Management Office on legal issues associated with proposals to integrate, share and re-use information held by Australian government agencies. This has involved understanding the nature and ownership of the information held by government agencies and most particularly, privacy and security issues associated with these proposals.
