Sustainable Planning Bill 2009 - Assessment of Development and IDAS (Part 1)

26 June 2009

On 19 June 2009 the Sustainable Planning Bill 2009 was introduced to Parliament. The Bill will replace the Integrated Planning Act 1997 (IPA) and seeks to improve and streamline Queensland’s planning and development framework.

The Bill forms part of implementing the IPA/IDAS Reform Project which commenced in February 2006. The Bill retains the fundamental concepts of the IPA whilst attempting to address the some of the shortfalls of the IPA identified by key stakeholders during public consultation for the Reform Project.

In an eight part series we will cover the major changes proposed by the Bill.
