Queensland's New Coal Seam Gas Regime Unveiled

On 16 July 2003, after over ten years of planning and policy development, the Queensland Government released a consultation draft of a legislative regime to govern the production of coal seam gas. This paper provides an overview of the key provisions of the consultation draft of the Mineral Resources and Other Legislation Amendment Bill highlighting the new obligations placed on coal (and oil shale) and petroleum stakeholders.
