Corrs IP practice gains international adviser

Daniel Plane has joined Corrs as a Senior Overseas Legal Adviser in its Intellectual Property, Technology and Competition practice in Melbourne.

Daniel was most recently the Chair of the Asia IP practice of French firm Gide Loyrette Nouel in Hong Kong. Prior to that, he managed the Asia-Pacific Anti-Counterfeiting Program of LVMH Fashion Group (which includes the Louis Vuitton brand) from Hong Kong and Nokia's Europe, Middle East and Africa Program from Helsinki.

Daniel’s intellectual property practice covers the full range of brand protection issues, including anti-counterfeiting, customs, litigation and commercial IP matters.

His recent experience includes designing and managing China and Hong Kong Anti-Counterfeiting Programs for several well-known garment manufacturers, and creating a supplier oversight and IP compliance program to assist foreign brand owners in managing and protecting their intellectual property when working with Asia-based suppliers.

Daniel is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and as an attorney in Wisconsin (USA). He worked in private practice in the US, Hong Kong and China, and as a public prosecutor with the US Department of Justice’s Immigration and Naturalization Service. Daniel is fluent in Chinese Mandarin.

In addition to handling Intellectual Property matters in Australia, Daniel will also be advising Corrs’ clients on Asia-Pacific IP Strategy, particularly focusing on IP protection and enforcement in the People’s Republic of China, where he has extensive in-house and private practice experience.

The appointment will further strengthen Corrs’ extensive intellectual property practice, which includes anti-counterfeiting work for many of the world’s best-known brands.
