Dominic Emmett

Dominic is a recognised expert in the area of restructuring & insolvency. With over 20 years of experience, Dominic has acted as a lead lawyer on many of Australia’s largest workouts including Allco Finance, Centro Properties and Sydney Cross City Tunnel.

He acts for financiers, noteholders, borrowers and issuers in local and international finance and debt markets; advises on near insolvency situations; and negotiates and documents standstill and refinancing arrangements, receiverships, administrations and liquidations.

Dominic’s experience includes:

• Lead adviser on the Allco Finance Group matter where he advises the syndicate of 12 banks on its restructuring and refinancing and Ferriers in its receivership - one of the three largest restructurings in Australia in 2008 and 2009.
• Lead adviser to a syndicate of US banks on their exposure to Centro Properties - one of the three largest restructurings in Australia in 2008 and 2009.
• Lead adviser to KordaMentha and steering committee to a syndicate of 18 local and offshore banks in the sale of the Sydney Cross City Tunnel - described as a “real coup” by The Australian Financial Review
• Acted for the administrators for Ansett, Newmont Yandal, Walter Construction, Timbercorp and Lewingtons Transport, the receivers of Westpoint Corporation and FreightLink (the Adelaide to Darwin Railway) and the additional liquidator to FAI.
• Acts on a large number of confidential workouts and restructurings generally, as well as on bilateral exposures for the likes of NAB, ANZ, Westpac and many other funds and financial institutions.

Dominic is currently on the Board of Corrs Chambers Westgarth and heads Corrs Reconstruction and Insolvency Group.
