Alison Chappell

A member of the firm’s Taxation Group, Alison advises a wide range of clients on income tax, capital gains tax, stamp duty, goods and services tax and payroll tax issues with a particular expertise in the taxation consequences of business restructuring. She has also acted on behalf of a number of clients in dealing with the Australian Tax Office including audit negotiations, private rulings, objections and court appeals.

Alison has extensive experience in advising charities, universities and other tax exempt entities on taxation related issues.

Prior to joining the firm in 1988, Alison worked in the Australian Taxation Office and for a period of seven years with the Australian Government Solicitor where she was involved in a wide range of work on behalf of the Commonwealth Government.

Alison brings to the firm specialist knowledge of taxation law. She is a member of the Taxation Committee of the Law Council, a Past President of the Taxpayers’ Association of Queensland Inc and a regular presenter of papers to the industry.
