What: Mergers & Acquisitions
Where: The University of Chicago Booth School of Business
"The course unpacked a lot of concepts throughout all phases of an M&A transaction, including those I am aware of, but do not perform, as a lawyer. I now feel I have a great understanding of a client's commercial drivers and the role of the financial adviser. I believe this, while enriching on its own, also gives me a better appreciation of the legal role in M&A transactions.
The trip was not only work with no play. Amongst the time spent on various case study pre-reading assignments, I did manage to get back to Beaver Creek in Colorado and catch up with old friends where I spent a northern hemisphere ski season in 2004/05 working front desk at a hotel. I managed to squeeze in some fresh snow at each of Beaver Creek, Vail, Breckenridge and Keystone in a whirlwind tour before heading to Chicago for the course at Booth. After Colorado and Chicago in a US winter, in need of some serious vitamin D, Palm Springs did me very nicely. The desert sun and the 1960’s time warp was a great way to finish an amazing trip.”
